Friends are the Chocolate Chips

Oh my… what a neat thought – in the scheme of life, friends are the chocolate chips!  What a nice verse to put in a card… and don’t forget to make the cookies!

Mrs. Field’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 2 cups butter, softened
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 cups rolled oats
  • 4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 8 ounces finely grated chocolate bar
  • 3 cups chopped walnuts
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  2. Cream together butter or margarine, white sugar, and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla.
  3. Mix together in a separate bowl: salt, baking powder, baking soda, flour and oatmeal (put small amounts of oatmeal in blender until it turns to powder. Measure out 5 cups of oatmeal and only “powderize” that, NOT 5 cups “powderized” oatmeal).
  4. Mix all of the above.
  5. Add: chocolate chips, grated chocolate bar, and chopped nuts (any kind).
  6. Chill ingredients for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake on greased cookie sheet (make golf ball sized balls) and bake about two inches apart. Bake for 8 -10 minutes. Do not overbake.
  8. Makes 112 cookies

Facing Your Giants – God’s Way

Have you ever had a day where nothing you did went right.  In fact a day where your biggest giant, whether it be finances, alcohol, lust, a prodigal child or fear gripped you tightly where you could not breathe… somehow I often wonder how David felt when his giant, Goliath, faced him with that super confident smile as if David was simply a snack for Goliath’s never ending appetite.  Gosh… days like this are so paralyzing… thank God that I know my biggest Giant is never too big for God!  And what a great way to sit back and conquer each Giant I face with scripture… one prayer, one scripture at a time… what a relief that God is with me on my quest to slay my Giants…

I am doing a study on David and Goliath and Max Lucado does a beautiful job of translating these scriptures to modern day times in his book Facing Your Giants… and what a neat idea – to make a scripture box using Stampin’ Up! papers to embellish the scriptures I am learning!  What a nice gift to give someone who is also trying to slay Giants in their life…

Here’s a great idea, a scripture box to hold your favorite bible verses,  from Sharon Johnson…  enjoy!  I sure am! There is also at Split Coast Stampers a really nice scripture card challenge for 2008… imagine giving your child a box of scriptures that have always helped you through really tough and challenging times… what a blessing we can be to others if we simply use creativity… and God’s word!

Don’t forget to check out the beautiful faithbooking gifts and sweatshirts we have:

Hoping that today you can feel hope and peace as you begin to slay the Giants that plague you… Keep in mind that God does not track how many times you fall to sin, but how many times you praise him while you face your sins.

The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, he will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. – 1 Sam 17:37

Oh Yum – Caffe Mocha Latte – Stampin’ Up! Style

Click on Image for Card Recipe…

I just love chocolate and coffee and thought I would play with a retired stamp set from
Stampin’ Up! – The stamp set is called “like it a latte” and boy did I have fun…If you notice, the cards have smaller ivory cards below them… I mail each card in a see through envelope (medium size) and I made a special address card so that the post man knows where the card should go.  I also made a special notecard where I put a special note and sign my name – when I send cards – I do not sign the card I made in case the person receiving the newly made card wants to send it to someone!  So I simply insert a special notecard with a short letter and my name on it!  The other two cards in the stack are a recipe card for the Caffe Mocha Latte and a recipe card for how to make the Card!  I
bundled all of this together to make a really nice surprise for a really nice person!

Here’s the card inside:

Click on Image for Card Recipe…

If you look really closely you will see that I embossed everything in a clear glitter using Gelly Roll’s clear glitter pen – easy and no mess!  I also glued a small stamped circle onto the hodgepodge hardware using Stampin’ Up!’s liquid glue… this makes for a more interesting embellishment…  The pink cardstock is from Stampin’ Up! – it’s dry embossed with swirls and then I ran lightly a sponge with chocolate chip ink over it to give texture. The neatest thing about this card is the whipped cream on the cup of coffee – it’s very shimmery – I used opal shimmer paper by Paper Source – I stamped and embossed and glued the shimmer paper right above the cup! The cup is colored with a pink watercolor pencil and a blender pen… both from Stampin’ Up!

This project was really easy to make – a little time consuming, but really fun.  One of the
cards is being attached to a beautiful gift box that has a beautiful creme colored china coffee pot with lots of chocolate biscotti and caffe mocha latte mix!  See Recipe below!

The fonts I used for the cards were:  Selfish (very scrolly and elegant) and caffe latte
(really cute!)…
